Hyderabad, May 26: Intense heatwave condition continued to sweep across Andhra Pradesh, where sun-stroke has claimed 370 lives during the past 10 days, relief commissioner B C Rosaiah told a news agency here today. East Godavari district with 85 deaths was the worst-affected followed by Prakasam 52, Warangal 41, Karimnagar 38, Nalgonda 31, Krishna 30 and Nellore 21, Rosaiah said adding that reports from other districts were awaited.

The state government has taken up relief works in affected districts, sanctioning Rs 10,000 to each below poverty line family which has lost an earning member, he said. Meanwhile, a spokesman of local weather office said that heatwave condition would continue in the districts of Nellore, and Prakasam district of south coastal region, Karimnagar, Warangal and Khammam districts of Telangana and parts of Rayalseema region during next two days.
