Chennai, Aug 12: The Madras High Court today dismissed as 'withdrawn', a petition challenging certain sections of Tamil Nadu Essential Services Maintenance Act 2002 and the July 04 ordinance amending it. Justice K Govindarajan dismissed the petition after the counsel for the petitioner - Tamil Nadu Cooperative Subordinate Officers Association - represented by its president P Dhandapani expressed the desire to withdraw it.

Later, Dhandapani told reporters that he was withdrawing the petition following requests from other government employees' associations and also to create cordial relations between the government and the employees to arrive at an amicable solution. Bureau Report
