Eight killed in heavy rains in Rajasthan
Jaipur, July 11: Eight people were killed as moderate to heavy rainfall was reported from across Rajasthan, with Bharatpur recording the maximum of 27 cm, and a number of dams being damaged in Alwar and Jaipur divisions, official sources said here.

Three persons, including a deputy headman of a village,
were swept in a flash floods at Kuhara village in Jaipur
district late last night, the sources said.
Two children were drowned in a pond at Janiyana village of Barmer district, while two children were swept away in flash floods at Chirana in Jhunjhunu district. A youth was drowned in a dam at Baswa in Alwar district. Meanwhile the South-West Monsoon was vigorous over Meawat region affecting normal life and vehicular traffic.
Bharatpur recorded the maximum rainfall of 27 cm followed by Alwar, Ramgarh, Malakhera, Rajgarh, Govindgarh, Thanagazi, Kisangarh Vati, Tizara, Rajakhera, Neemrana and Kota- Kasim in the range of 8-16 cms, a met department report said.
The portions of a number of dams and anti-cuts in Alwar, Jaipur and Jodhpur districts were damaged threatening life of villagers.
Moderate to heavy rains occurred in entire Rajasthan during the last 24 hours. The north-west regions witnessed intermittent showers. Jaipur's sky was overcast by thick clouds intermittent rains continued to affect life of office goers and students since early morning.
