Rae Bareli, Jan 09: Hearing in the Babri Mosque demolition case against Human Resource Development Minister Murli Manohar Joshi and six others was postponed till today, on November 22, last year.
The special court postponed hearing in the case in view of the interim orders of the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court staying further proceedings till January 9, 2004 on the revision petitions of the seven accused, including BJP leaders Uma Bharti and Vinay Katiyar, VHP leaders Ashok Singhal, Vishnu Hari Dalmiya, Giri Raj Kishore and Sadhvi Rithambara besides Joshi.
The counsel for the accused moved an application for exemption from personal appearance and the court granted it only for the day.
The eighth accused in the case, Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, was discharged by the court in September last following which the revision petitions were filed by the remaining accused.
Special prosecuter R K Saini appeared for the CBI.
