Guwahati, June 08: Cautioning against the threat of a demographic change in Assam, VHP general secretary Pravin Togadia today suggested a country-wide battle against infiltration from Bangladesh.
Addressing a "Hindu Sammelan" here, Togadia, in a highly surcharged speech, said: "Time has come for all the Indians to launch a war against infiltration which is threatening the existence of the country".
"The IMDT Act has to be repealed because it protects the infiltrators and all political parties should be warned not to play with the sentiments of the people," Togadia said.
"The demography of Assam is changing. Ultimately, the state will be forced to become a part of greater Bangladesh and the fate of the Hindu Assamese will be like the Kashmiri Pandits after being reduced to a minority," he said.
"Army and paramilitary forces in Kashmir could not protect the Kashmiri Hindus in their home. Then how can we expect the Assamese Hindus will be protected from becoming a minority here," the VHP leader said.
"After Kashmir, Assam would be targetted. So VHP has decided to fight it and not remain confined to Assam only but take it to the rest of the country for the protection of the Assamese Hindus."
