Cuddalore, Apr 22: DMK youth wing leader M K Stalin and nine others, including some MLAs, arrested on April 9 in connection with the Queen Mary's Women's College stir, were released from the central prison here this morning following the grant of bail by a Chennai court. Large number of local DMK leaders and activists cheered Stalin as he came out of the prison and left for Madurai where he would have to stay till April 26 as per the conditional bail granted by the Chennai sessions court yesterday. Stalin, the former Chennai mayor, and nine others were arrested a day after they addressed the Queen Mary's College students protesting the government move to demolish the college building. While they were initially charged with trespassing into the college premises and instigating the students, police added an attempt to murder case later. On April 17, Stalin was granted bail by a magistrate court in the trespassing case. The Chennai Sessions Court yesterday granted bail in the attempt to murder case.
