New Delhi, July 10: The Union Cabinet on Thursday decided to go ahead with the implementation of the Conditional Access System (CAS) as scheduled. "There will be no roll back of CAS. It will be implemented in a manner in which the ministry has decided to roll it out at a meeting last week with broadcasters and cable operators," Information and Broadcasting Minister Ravishankar Prasad told reporters after the Cabinet meeting.
There was an informal discussion on the issue and the Cabinet took a unanimous decision, the minister said.

Last week's meeting at the PMO in which broadcasters and cable operators participated had decided that CAS will roll out zone-wise in four metros from September 1.
Sources said one or two proposals relating to a legislation for amendment of the Cable T V Act would come up for more detailed consideration within the government. Bureau Report
