New Delhi, July 12: Under attack over the frequent rail mishaps, Railway Minister Nitish Kumar has convened a two-day workshop on railway safety here from today. The workshop would deliberate on ways and means to contain and reduce train accidents involving casualties. Besides, it would deliberate on infrastructure maintenance, operation practices, rescue and relief systems, training and upgradation of skills and other strenous factors affecting rail safety, an official release said.
The findings of the workshop would help government to formulate a corporate safety plan as recommended by the Khanna committee.
Five major unions of Indian Railways such as Federation of Railway Officers Associations, National Federation of Indian Railwaymen, All India Railwaymen Federation, Indian Railway Promotee Officers' Federation and Railway Protection Force Association would participate in the brain storming workshop.
