Rs 63 crore damage report presented to central team

An eight-member central team, led by Harminder Raj Singh representing Union Home Ministry, today visited several places in the district including Muzhappilangad, Edakkad, Manikkadavu and Nadal to assess the damage caused by the unprecedented rain lasting for three days in October last, district Collector M Aniruddhan told a news agency.
He said the total loss estimated to agriculture crops in the district was Rs 12 crore while road networks suffered a damage to the tune of Rs 20 crore and the destruction caused due to landslide was Rs 2.25 crore.
The central team will leave for New Delhi tomorrow and would present their report to the union agriculture ministry the same day, he added.
