Patna, Oct 02: Bihar government and Bihar Motor Transport Federation (BMTF) have finally reached an official agreement paving the way for resumption of normal services of buses and transport carriers in the state. The agreement was signed after a four-hour meeting between representatives of the federation and cabinet sub-committee members, headed by water resources minister, Jagdanand Singh, at the official residence of the Chief Minister, Rabri Devi last evening, an official spokesman said today. RJD chief, Laloo Prasad Yadav also attended the meeting. The spokesman said the state government agreed to bring an amendment to the Bihar Finance Act, 2001, incorporating modifications in the road tax structure, besides giving concessions to 52-seat buses in road tax.
BMTF General Secretary, Sagirul Haque told a news agency that the government had agreed to waive off tax arrears during the strike period and the district transport authorities were directed to collect road tax and additional tax from bus operators as per the modified rates.
