Ranchi, Dec 30: Jharkhand cabinet today adopted the Hindu Marriage Act and formed a commission for the state's backward classes, official sources said.
The rules and regulations of the Hindu Marriage Act was approved by the cabinet at a meeting chaired by chief minister Babulal Marandi, the sources said. The cabinet also decided that Justice (retd) Loknath Prasad would head the state's backward class commission, members of which would be announced later, the sources said.
The cabinet also approved the constitution of a high-level investment commission headed by the chief secretary. Secretaries of industry, land and revenue, commerce, energy, law, finance departments and the director of energy department would be the members of the commission, the sources said. Besides, Rs 19.65 crore was approved for issuing photo identity cards in the state under the Election Commission rules, the sources added. Bureau Report
