Kathmandu, Mar 02: Suspected Maoist rebels exploded a powerful bomb in a bus in Kathmandu today, wounding three people, police said. The explosion took place in a parked bus in Khasi Bazar area of the capital. All the three wounded, one of them critically, have been admitted to the hospital, a police official present at the site said.
''The bus was completely destroyed in the explosion and was so powerful that it was heard around a few kilometres away,'' he said.
Though no group has claimed responsibility for the blast, police blamed it on the rebels, who have set off a series of bombs in the country since last week.
The Maoists rebels are fighting to overthrow Nepal's monarchy and the revolt has claimed more than 8,500 lives since 1996. Bureau Report
