Jaipur, Aug 31: Seventeen people of a family, including six women and seven children, were killed on the spot and six other members injured when the jeep in which they were travelling rammed into a bus in the wee hours at Udaipuriya village in Jaipur district, a senior police official said here. The jeep, carrying 23 members of a joint family, was on its way to Bheru temple in Reegnus when it collided with a roadways bus at 0300 hrs, superintendent of police (rural) B R Gawala told.
Three of the seriously injured were rushed to the SMS Hospital here, he said.
The jeep upon collision slipped beneath the bus, creating difficulties in rescue efforts, he said.
The family, hailing from Sarsa village in Manohpaur police station zone on the Delhi-Jaipur highway, was going to the temple to perform `jat' ritual after a marriage ceremony.
