Gangtok, Jan 08: The opposition Sikkim Sangram Parishad (SSP) has dared the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) to hold mid-term polls in the state.
"They (the ruling party) cannot hold mid term polls in Sikkim. And if at all it takes place, we will get the maximum benefit out of it," SSP Supremo Nar Bahadur Bhandari told a gathering of party workers here yesterday.
In the event of mid-term polls, SSP would not oppose any other party - be it Congress, BJP or CPI(M). Our single point agenda would be to oust the 'corrupt and casteist' Chamling government from power," the former chief minister said.
A section of the party's higher-ups mooted the proposal in an executive committee meeting recently on which no decision was taken.
Bhandari said if a mid-term poll was held, his party would give a befitting reply to the SDF.
