Jalandhar hostage drama ends, girl rescued
Jalandhar, Oct 16: Police early today rescued the five-year-old girl, who was taken hostage by an unidentified armed man in a house in Adarsh Nagar area here, after shooting the accused.
Jalandhar, Oct 16: Police early today rescued the five-year-old girl, who was taken hostage by an unidentified armed man in a house in Adarsh Nagar area here, after shooting the accused.
The man, armed with two pistols, had barged into the residence of advocate Ashok Sonik firing shots and took his daughter, Aashna, as hostage after injuring his wife at around 3 pm yesterday.
After over 10 hours wait, police force swung into action and broke open the door of the house and shoot the accused who was standing near the bathroom and rescued the girl safe and sound at 1.40 am, police sources said.
The accused who was in police custody was yet to be identified.
The incident started when Sonik's wife Seema opened the door of the house on return of her two children Aashna and Arjun (11) from school. The woman had managed to come out of the house along with her son, the captor got hold of the girl and locked the door from inside. Bureau Report
