Thrissur, Apr 03: All-India Agricultural Workers' Union (AIAWU) president P Ramayya said here today that it would launch a country-wide agitation to protect the rights of agricultural workers and improve their conditions. Addressing a press conference in connection with the AIAWU's fifth conference to be held here from tomorrow, he told reporters that the entry of multinationals to promote agricultural crops in the country would adversely affect domestic farmers. CPI-M general secretary Harkishan Singh Surjeet would be inaugurating the delegates session on April 4. Seminars on 'Contemporary Indian Politics', 'War and Peace' and 'Dalit-Backward Classes Intensification and Progressive Movements' would also be held as part of the conference. In all, 650 delegates from 14 states would be participating in the three-day conference, Ramayya said.
