New Delhi, Oct 29: Bangladesh today assured India that it would not allow its territory to be used by anti-India forces even as both sides suggested a joint approach in dealing with border problems. This assurance was given by Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) chief Major General Razaqul Haider during a meeting with home secretary N Gopalaswami here.
"The Bangladesh government and BDR has carried out intensive search and combing operations. I can reaffirm that the soil of Bangladesh will not be allowed to used for any kind of insurgency operation against any country," Haider told reporters after the meeting.
On the last year's border skirmishes in which 16 BSF personnel were killed, Haider said the incident was a "localised problem",

'As long as we see them locally and we do not allow them to spark, I think we would have done a good job," the BDR chief said. BSF director general Ajai Raj Sharma was also present at the meeting.
Haider, who is leading a 17-member team, is here to attend the annual conference of heads of border forces of India and Bangladesh.
Earlier, addressing the day-long conference, Sharma told the Bangladesh delegation that continued influx of illegal migrants from Bangladesh to India and activities of militants of North Eastern states operating from Bangladesh have become a matter of concern and stressed on coordinated efforts to combat them.
