Lucknow, Aug 02: Samajwadi Party president, Mulayam Singh Yadav today accused the BJP of playing politics on the death of Mahant Ramchandra Paramhans to gain political mileage in the coming elections. The vow to construct a Ram temple in Ayodhya while paying homage to the Ram Janmbhoomi Nyas president, Ramchandra Paramhans in Ayodhya after the cremation, was "aimed at gaining political mileage and playing politics on the dead body of the great saint," Yadav said at a meeting of the youth wing of his party here.
The PM's statement yesterday lent credence to his (Yadav's) views that Vajpayee was "purely a leader of RSS" Yadav said, cautioning the NDA partners to be wary of BJP's designs.
He said the temple issue was raised so as to divert the people's attention from major problems facing the country and the NDA government's failure to cite any of its major achievements.
Yadav also paid glowing tributes to Paramhans who died in Ayodhya on Thursday.
He charged the Vajpayee government with playing into the hands of United States and neglecting the interests of the country.
On the Taj corridor controversy, he accused Vajpayee of shielding the corrupt and expressed the fear that charges against UP Chief Minister Mayawati in the ongoing CBI inquiry in the Taj corridor project would be diluted in view of seat adjustment for the Lok Sabha elections in up which the two parties have decided to contest together.
