Shimla, Nov 10: The Himachal Pradesh government has submitted a Rs 23.75 crore project to the central government for seeking World Bank assistance under the vocational training programme phase-II in the state. The government had successfully implemented a Rs 45.75 crore World Bank-assisted project for strengthening technical education in the state, according to an official spokesman here.
In order to promote technical education the government had the government opened 18 new technical institutions in the state. Seven industrial training centres, two vocational training centres and two engineering colleges have been also opened in the private sector in the state, the spokesman added.

The spokesman said Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) at Solan, Nahan, Paonta Sahib and Nalagarh had been brought under a scheme under which management of these institutes was being run in association with entrepreneurs of the area.
The managing committees set up for the purpose finalised academic and training programmes as per the requirement of technical manpower in industries.
The ITIs at Mandi, Shahpur and Chamba are also proposed to be brought under the project in a phased manner. Bureau Report
