Kochi, June 17: A division bench of the Kerala High Court today permitted student organisations to seek review of the May 26 judgment which had upheld the rights of college managements to ban political activities in the campuses. Major students organisations-- Students Federation of India, Kerala Students Union, All India Students Federation (AISF) etc, who were not party to the original petition, had approached the court seeking to be heard.

The bench, comprising Justice K S Radhakrishnan and Justice K Padmanabhan Nair, said considering the apprehension voiced by students organisations, it would be appropriate that all persons who are interested in the issue be heard. They also issued public notices to all managements of educational institutions, students organisations, parents teachers associations (PTAs), teaching and non-teaching organisations etc.

Those interested in making written submissions can do so on or before July 1.

Considering the importance of the issue, the bench also issued notice to advocate general, M Ratna Singh, to hear the government's version. Bureau Report
