Patron of Darul Uloom dervish in Peshawar, Sheikhul
Hadith Maulana Hasan Jan, said sending Pakistani troops to
Iraq was tantamount to protecting the US army there.
Mufti Ghulamur Rehman, head of the Islamic council, said supporting the us troops against Muslim forces was against Islamic teachings.

"The sending of Pakistani troops in the present situation in Iraq is Haram (prohibited in Islam)," he said.
A leading scholar of Ahle-Hadith school of thought, Abdus Salam Salafi, also opposed the sending of Pakistani troops to Iraq and asked the government "not to bow" before the US government on the issue.
The US had recently asked Pakistan to send troops to
Iraq to help in "rebuilding" the war-torn country.
