New Delhi, July 08: In what could shock the denizens of the Capital, the campus of the National Institute of Communicable Diseases here has been found to feature among areas in the capital where containers were found to be breeding ground for aedes mosquitoes causing dengue. A study by the city government's directorate of national anti-malaria programme found three to eight per cent containers in Moti Bagh flats, Prahladpur village, CPWD quarters at Vasant Vihar, Safdarjung Enclave, Nanakpura, Ganeshpura, Pitampura and DSC line godown and Signal Enclave in Delhi Cantonment were breeding aedes mosquitoes.
The report was submitted at a high-level meeting here chaired by the Delhi Health and Urban Development Minister A K Walia to review the situation of water and vector borne diseases in the capital, a govt release said.
Walia directed the health officials to pull up malaria inspectors where mosquitoes were found to be breeding and asked the officers to take necessary steps to ensure proper drainage of rain water.
