Chennai, Sept 15: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa today said the second generation economic reform programme started by her government was aimed at enhancing productivity in the industrial sector, creating infrastructural facilities and providing uninterrupted power
supply.
In an open letter to her partymen on the occasion of the 95th birth anniversary of DMK founder C N Annadurai, she said her government was committed to change labour laws in order to re-train work force and simplify procedures in paying taxes.
"When I take these decisions, the density of the problems worry me. But I get solace from the fact that I will be able to face these problems as you are with me," she said, quoting Annadurai. Jayalalithaa said her government was unable to allocate more funds for welfare programmes due to "financial mismanagement" of the previous DMK regime. But whenever she referred to the fact, the opposition parties "instigated" the government employees to agitate, she said.
"I gain strength from the fact that you are backing me," the Chief Minister said, adding the "dreams" of those wanting to dislodge her government would not succeed. Earlier, Jayalalithaa paid floral tributes to a portrait of Annadurai at Udhagamandalam.
