Bangalore, July 14: Police fired in the air and resorted to lathicharge to quell an enraged group of persons who laid siege to Kunigal police station in Tumkur district triggered by an eve teasing incident, police sources said here. Sources said that the group, numbering around 300, resorted to stone-throwing and gheraoed the police station late last night after police picked up a person accused of eve teasing a girl from the same community.

The group charged the police with "excesses" in the case.
Police said they resorted to firing in the air and lathicharged to control the group, which allegedly damaged a few vehicles. Top district police officials are camping in the area.
