Mumbai, Nov 08: Securities and Exchange Board of India is to soon appoint ombudsman for speedy redressal of investor grievances even as it asked them to study "risk and reward trade-off" to make informed decision to invest in shares. The market regulator plans to appoint ombudsman at various places in the country, on need-based criterion, for customers in the securities market, Sebi chairman G N Bajpai said addressing jubilee celebrations of Consumer Education and Research Centre (CERC) here today.

Besides prompt redressal of complaints, improving investor awareness was crucial to protect their interests, Bajpai added.

On the investment into capital markets, Sebi chairman said investors should study companies and assess risk-reward trade-off for making investment decisions.
Sebi has launched nationwide investor education programme to increase the awareness levels, he added.
