Srinagar, Sept 13: Pro-Pakistan Hizbul Mujahideen today said it carried out series of attacks on security forces to counter government claims that operation Sarp Vinash in Surankote recently dented the striking capability of militants in Jammu and Kashmir. "Indian (Army) commanders claim that operation Sarp Vinash (at Hilkaka) has dented our striking capability but the attacks carried out by Hizb since the beginning of this month prove the claims are baseless and hollow", a spokesman of the outfit, Junaidul Islam, said in a faxed statement. Islam said the attacks on security forces included "mine blasts, ambushes and guerilla strikes to prove the presence of our network across the state and the potential to deal severe blows to the Indian forces". Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Toiba cadres also participated in the attacks after their leadership agreed to extend full support to the operations, he said adding that Hizbul Mujahideen expected such "joint ventures" to continue in future.
Islam claimed besides several ambushes, six mine blasts and a grenade attack were carried out on security forces in which 102 personnel were killed and 126 injured.
