Chennai, Aug 11: The anxious wait by over 8,000 dismissed employees, sacked by the Tamil Nadu government for participating in the strike from July two and who the Supreme Court had suggested should be reinstated, is likely to end on Monday (August 11).
Speaking to mediapersons this evening, after a high-level meeting of senior ministers and government officials, chaired by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, state Chief Secretary Laskhmi Pranesh said the meeting had decided to implement the apex court directive.
She evaded a direct reply when asked whether the employees would be permitted to return to duty on Monday and said "orders are being issued".
While over 2,000 staff holding high positions and charged under the Act are expected to be served suspension orders, in keeping with the Supreme Court's order, on Monday, those against whom FIRs had been filed would stand terminated, she said.
Earlier in the day, state government officials also had a meeting with Jayalalithaa at her residence.
