Islamabad, Nov 07: Security officers at Islamabad International Airport discovered 80 kilograms of heroin in the suitcase of a British-bound Pakistani passenger, a security official said today. It was the biggest ever haul of heroin uncovered at the airport, although larger amounts have been found on Pakistan's overland smuggling routes crossing the borders from the vast poppy fields of Afghanistan.

The security official, Ahmad Khan, said the drugs were found yesterday in the suitcase of a man identified as Arshad Hameed, who was en route to Birmingham.

Hameed was taken into custody. Further details of the case were unavailable.
