Munich, May 18: Thousands of Bayern Munich fans celebrated winning the German league championship as the players paraded the Bundesliga trophy after the last home match of the season. Police said around 15,000 fans crowded into Marienplatz Square on Saturday evening (May 17) after Bayern's 2-1 victory over VFB Stuttgart. Bayern's Giovane Elber struck twice after the break and now tops the league scorers table with 21 goals. After the final whistle the Bayern players, 18 points clear at the top of the league, were presented with the Bundesliga trophy. The players appeared on the city hall balcony, some clad in lederhosen, as the thousands of enthusiastic Bayern fans down below waved flags and mock trophies. The Bayern players have secured the title with four games left. Stuttgart stay third but drop a point behind second-placed Borussia Dortmund, the outgoing champions, who were held to a 0-0 by Kaiserslautern.
