Chandigarh, June 26: Accusing the chief minister Amarinder Singh of being "driven blindly by hatred and revenge", Shiromani Akali Dal president Parkash Singh Badal today termed the corruption case registered against him as an "act of vendetta born out of sheer political frustration of the chief minister."
" It is a shoddy attempt by Amarinder Singh to deflect people's attention from the abysmal failures of the present
regime and to demoralise political opponents," the former
chief minister said in statement here.
The state vigilance bureau had yesterday registered a case against Badal for amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.
"Amarinder Singh has taken his vendetta to the lowest depths, but I and my party are ready to face any repression and vendetta," Badal said.
Declaring that he was willing to stake his political future on the case, Badal asked if Amrinder Singh was prepared to quit public life if he was not able to prove charges brought against him.
