Islamabad, Aug 13: Syrian foreign minister Faruq al-Shara arrived in Pakistan today from New Delhi for talks on bilateral relations and regional issues, a civil aviation official said. Al-Shara is scheduled to meet President Pervez Musharraf and deliver a message from Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, a foreign ministry statement earlier said.
Shara will also hold talks with the minister for state for foreign affairs Inam ul Haq.
The visit follows Musharraf's "ground-breaking" visit to Syria in January last year when he held "useful and in-depth talks" with his counterpart al Assad and Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa Miro, the statement said. The two countries signed several agreements to increase cooperation in agriculture, industry, science and technology. Bureau Report
