New Delhi, Jan 14: News portal Tehelka chief Tarun Tejpal has pleaded for dismissal of Samata Party leader Jaya Jaitly's petition for revival of her defamation case against him in a city court, which was dismissed by it last month.
"There is no legal grounds which would warrant the interference of the high court in the impugned order of the trial court have been made out," Tejpal's counsel meet Malhotra in a reply submitted before the court today said. Following his reply, a bench comprising Justice Dalveer Bhandari and Justice S K Agrawal fixed Jaitly's petition for argument for January 20.


She has sought revival of her criminal defamation case against Tehelka and its chief, which as dismissed on December three by a lower court for non-appearance by her or her counsel. Jaitly in her complaint had submitted that the statements displayed by the news portal on its website leveling certain charges against her, were totally false and she had neither misused her office as party leader, nor received any money from the "supposed arms" dealer in the so-called Tehelka expose.
