Beijing, May 28: With the confirmation of four more deaths due to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) today, the cumulative death toll in the country has gone up to 325. The Ministry of Health also reported four more cases of SARS infection, bringing the total number in China to 5,323.
Three of the four deaths and three of the new confirmed cases have occurred in capital Beijing, the worst-hit Chinese city. It has registered a total of 175 fatalities, more than half of the country's total of 325.
However, the latest addition of new cases of infection is the lowest since the Ministry of Health started tabulating nation-wide SARS cases from April 20. So far, 3,036 patients have been discharged from hospitals after recovery, the ministry said. Bureau Report
