New Delhi, Jan 27: The BJP's seven-member Rajnath Singh committee, set up to review the Kelkar committee's proposals on tax reforms, is expected to make its findings public today.
Rajnath Singh had earlier said his report would be made public after the Finance Minister returns from Davos.
If the Kelkar proposals are implemented, it may lower taxes for those whose entire salary is taxable. But for a large section of the middle class, that earns a major portion of their salary as tax-free perks and reimbursements, the taxes could literally shoot up.
The Kelkar report had recommended a withdrawal of tax exemptions but the Rajnath Singh committee is likely to oppose this proposal.
