SC, ST commission to be set up in AP
Hyderabad, Nov 05: Andhra Pradesh government today decided to set up a commission for scheduled castes and scheduled tribes to be armed with judicial powers.

scheduled tribes to be armed with judicial powers.
The decision to constitute the commission was taken at a
high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu
Naidu here.
The commission would have a chairman and five members and their names would be announced in a day or two, state Social Welfare Minister J R Pushparaj told reporters.
The constitution of state level SC, St commission is in consonance with the central act which had got the presidential approval in July last.
The commission would have sufficient powers drawn from relevant provisions of the protection of Civil Rights Act, IPC, CRPC and SC, ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
