London, Oct 02: An Asian aged between 17 and 23, who was suspected by the police to have murdered American artist Margaret as she jogged in a park last February, has allegedly struck again. The police have described him as 5 feet and 11 inches tall, with a lisp and a pockmarked face. The Scotland Yard issued an e-fit image of the suspect whom it called "a pockmarked Asian man".
Detectives said there were chilling similarities between the attack in February and an indecent assault last month on another woman jogger. Both victims were 27 year old and were attacked at virtually the same spot in the East London park at breakfast time around 8.15 am.
Muller died of stab wounds near the Rose Garden in Victoria Park, Hackney, at 8:30 am. In the recent incident the attacker fled when a woman walking her dog stumbled upon the assault. He ran towards the same direction which the assailant of Muller had fled to.
Detective Chief Inspector Ron Scott said there were disturbing similarities between the two attacks which have "set alarm bells ringing".
In the latest incident, he said, the victim had been jogging through the park between 7.45 am and 8.15 am when she realised that a man was running close behind her. He eventually caught up with the victim and started to make suggestive comments before grabbing and indecently assaulting the young woman. It was not a rape but indecent groping. The victim was very lucky when another woman walking her dog came along and disturbed the attacker. The police have advised that women should jog in pairs.
