Lucknow, Nov 1: Striking a conciliatory tone, Uttar Pradesh state president of BJP Vinay Katiyar said today that the party has still not lost hope on the return of some of the rebel MLAs and claimed that several of the legislators who had gone to Raj Bhawan yesterday were "in touch" with them.

Katiyar said that BJP is still like a home for them and the state BJP leadership was eagerly awaiting their return. Talking to reporters Katiyar said that the state leadership is aware of the grievances of some of the BJP legislators. "We are trying to ameliorate their grievances at the earliest," he said. A confident looking Katiyar ruled out mid-term elections in the state and said the party did not want to burden the people with another polls.

Chiding that the Samjawadi Party general secretary Amar Singh, he said the claims made by the party leaders in Raj Bhawan that they had the required numbers to form an alternative government were "false and misleading." "The SP will not succeed in its gameplan in toppling the Mayawati government," he added.
