Madurai, June 21: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption has started inquiring the corruption charges against the former Madurai city police commissioner M V N Surya Prasad, who is now working as DIG (technical services), Chennai. Police said based on a "specific information about the properties purchased by Surya Prasad, which are disproportionate to his income" DVAC had started investigating the truth behind the complaints.

The officials also inquired about the properties purchased by the commissioner in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh. The former commissioner had not been allowed even to join MBA, Ahmedabad, by the state home department, in view of the inquiry pending against him.

DVAC had already started investigating the corruption charges against Pattabi, who was working as the assistant commissioner of police in-charge of intelligence in this city.
