New Delhi, Aug 03: Congress today said it was not "impressed" by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee`s clarification on his statement on Ayodhya issue last Friday and said making statements and then modifying them has become Vajpayee`s habit.
"We are not surprised because it has now become a habit of the Prime Minister that he first makes controversial speeches and when the speech is criticised he gives a clarification," Congress spokesman S Jaipal Reddy said.
"But this has led to lowering of the dignity of both the Constitution as well as the democracy," Reddy alleged.
Vajpayee had stated in Ayodhya on Friday that he favoured construction of Ram temple at the "birth place" of Lord Rama.
However, today he said there was no change in government`s stand that the issue could be solved through a court verdict or talks.
