Nasik, Aug 21: Following a dispute between Naga Sadhus at Trimbakeshwar, 29 kms from here, and Shankaracharya of Puri Adhokshajananda, police have served a notice to the latter asking him not to make "any provocative statements" to the media for at least a fortnight, which may create `unrest' during the ongoing Kumbh Mela. After the Trimbakeshwar's Shaddarshan Akhada Parishad last week asked the district administration and police to remove Adhokshajanand from Nasik Kumbh camp as he is `not the real' Shankaracharya of Puri but a `fake' one, Adhokshajananda has been issuing various statements to media against VHP, RSS and Mahants and Sadhus, police said here today. A meeting of Mahants at Trimbakeshwar yesterday, attended by national president of Shri Shambhu Panchdashnam Juna Akhada Parmanand Saraswati and Akhada Parishad president Sagaranand Saraswati among others, also asked administration and police to remove Adhokshajanand from Kumbh camp and warned of an agitation if it failed to do so. "Taking into consideration all this, we have issued a notice asking him to refrain from making provocative statements, at least for a fortnight," police said.

Even last night, with a view to prevent new dispute, city police obstructed Adhokshajanand near Zilla Parishad here when he was proceeding to Trimbakeshwar for a Pooja of Lord Trimbakeshwar. Bureau Report
