Bangalore, Sept 10: Turning the spotlight on BJP's preparedness for polls to five assemblies and political developments in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP central office-bearers began their one-day conclave here this morning. Setting the tone, BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu told party leaders to be on the offensive to counter the "false propaganda" of Congress against NDA and to expose the "double speak and double standards" of the Opposition.
Accusing the Congress of being "irresponsible", he said the people were being misled through false propaganda and the party should counter it and project BJP-led NDA's achievements. Turning to Uttar Pradesh, he said people there were tired of caste politics and were looking for an alternative. BJP was for a "new approach" and opening a new chapter and "we have to project ourselves as an alternative," he said.
Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani is attending the meeting which, Naidu said, would focus attention on political situation in the country, particularly in Uttar Pradesh, electoral preparedness for assembly polls and political and social expansion of the party, specifically in the south, east and north-east.
Some 22 office-bearers are attending the meeting, being held for the first time in the south for which BJP looks to Karnataka as the gateway. Naidu said yesterday that the meeting would be a "regular exercise" and a "business like session". Bureau Report
