Graft case: CBI official detained
New Delhi, Dec 06: A top CBI official was today detained along with two others in Visakhapatanam in an alleged graft case, the agency sources said here.
New Delhi, Dec 06: A top CBI official was today detained along with two others in Visakhapatanam in an alleged graft case, the agency sources said here.
CBI sleuths detained DIG Sudhakar Rao, an IPS officer of second cadre, and were conducting raids at his house in Visakhapatanam following allegations that he demanded Rs five lakhs from a person to settle his case and deputed a woman accomplice to collect the money, the sources said.
The accomplice, a public prosecutor, and another woman, an Andhra Pradesh government employee, were also detained and their premises raided, the CBI said.
Rao was only last month, on November 25, promoted as DIG and relieved from his post on December 3 for his next posting in Sikkim but he allegedly assured the complainant that he would settle his case before leaving, the CBI said.
