New Delhi, Nov 14: The BJP got a shot in the arm in the troubled Manipur with T Chauba Singh, president of Manipur state Congress today merging his party with it. Singh, an MP and a former union minister, who had quit the NDA at the height of political crisis in Manipur, joined the party along with five MLAs in the presence of BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu.
In a brief introduction, Naidu welcomed Singh into the party and showed to the media the membership form of the Manipur leader. "We welcome Singh into the BJP and this would give the party a boost in the north eastern region," Naidu said.
Among those present were Manipur BJP president Bharat Singh and former chief minister Dorendra Singh and BJP genera secretary Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.
Naidu, left soon after welcoming Singh into the party fold. Bureau Report
