The US aircraft manufacturer Boeing is considering developing a new version of its trademark 747 that would extend the aircraft's range by 775 miles (1,247 kilometers), the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.
The newspaper said the possible Boeing move suggested the company was not entirely ready to leave the field for larger passenger jets to European rival Airbus Industrie and its 555-seat A380.

Last month, Boeing announced plans to shift production focus away from an A380 competitor to development of a smaller, 100-to-300-seat plane -- known as the "Sonic Cruiser" -- that is capable of travelling at near the speed of sound. Bureau Report
