New Delhi, July 26: Two Jharkhand MPs today made a sudden change in their stand on the issue of setting up of a new railway zone at Ranchi instead of Hajipur saying they were not opposed to Hajipur having a new zonal headquarters.
"We support the proposal for setting up a zonal headquartes at Hajipur, but at the same time demand a zonal headquarters at Ranchi," Nagmani (RJD-D) and Ravindra Kumar Pandey (BJP) said in a letter to Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Referring to the letter written to Vajpayee on July 23 by seven MPs from the state, they said certain lines objecting to creation of a zonal headquarters at Hajipur were added to the letter after they had signed it.
They said Jharkhand Chief Minister Babulal Marandi too had welcomed the decision to set up a zonal raise capital from the market without affecting their "public sector" character.
"It is proposed to amend banking companies (acquisition and transfer of undertakings) act with a view to modifying the stipulation of minimum prescribed government shareholding in nationalised banks from 51 to 33 per cent to enable banks to raise capital without affecting their public sector character," Minister of State for finance Anant Geete informed the Lok Sabha today.
