Guwahati, July 09: The overall flood situation in Assam today remained grim as the mighty Brahmaputra flew above the danger level in most part of its course.
Official sources said Brahmatputra, however, was not rising as rains had stopped in the catchment areas.
The situation was, however, bleak in upper Assam's Dhemaji district where rail and road communication remained affected as flood water inundated many areas.
Seven districts of the state and over four lakh people have been affected in this the first wave of flood.
North-East frontier railway authorities in the meantime were busy in clearing the debris caused by a heavy landslide in the Lumding-Badarpur section which cut off south Assam, Tripura and Mizoram from the rest of the country.
