Jammu, June 26: Around 78 Gujjars and Bakerwals belonging to 13 families today migrated from Surankote hills in Jammu and Kashmir to Poonch town after militants threatened to kill them, official sources here. A group of ultras visited Hardi village in Surankote hills and threatened to kill the locals, most of them Gujjars and Bakerwals, to avenge the death of 10 militants in a joint operation by army and police on June 14, the sources said.

The 13 families migrated along with their belongings to Poonch this afternoon, they said.

Deputy Commissioner Aijaz Iqbal and Poonch police superintendent Mukesh Singh were personally monitoring the situation in view of the migration, the sources said.
