Moscow, May 17: The Russian and US armed forces are conducting a six-day long joint military exercise beginning from today to synchronise their interaction during collective peacekeeping operations in allied countries. The joint military staff games "Torgau-2004" are being held at an army base near Moscow, a US Embassy communique released here said.

From the American side southern European task force is involved in the staff games designed to expand working relations between the Russian and US military during work at a joint staff training for the "interaction of Russian and American brigades during a peacekeeping mission to protect a third allied country".
All practical training will take place at the Vystrel Training Centre in Solnechnogorsk, near Moscow, which would cover 60 servicemen from each side.
