Jaipur, Apr 08: Rajasthan Governor Madanlal Khurana flagged off the second international rally of solar powered vehicles from the Rambagh Polo Grounds here. As many as 33 participants would drive the 13 eco-friendly vehicles developed in the United Kingdom and the rally covers nearly 1,300 kms in the state over ten days. The rally would pass through Bikaner, Gajner, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Ranakpur and Kumbhalgarh, ending at Udaipur. ''The rally seeks to demonstrate the viability of the vehicles and test the new solar powered rickshaw which has a sophisticated and innovative design and technology,'' said Arvind Singh Mewar, chairman and managing trustee of the Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation, which is organising the rally. He stressed the need to tap alternative energy sources. An exhibition polo match was also organised on the occasion.
