Patna, July 31: A day after ordering arrest of controversial RJD MP from Siwan Mohammed Shahabuddin in a kidnapping case, Bihar Director General of Police D P Ojha
today asked the police to probe the role of his kin and state minister Ejazul Haq in the case.
"I have asked the investigating officer in the case to
probe the complicity of the minister in the abduction and
suspected murder of Munna Chaudhary," Ojha told.
Munna's parents had in a statement to the police after his disappearance alleged that Haq had visited them and threatened with dire consequences for the audacity of their son to oppose Shahabuddin in the Lok Sabha election in 2000.
Munna had supported CPI-ML candidate in the poll. Some time later he was kidnapped allegedly by the henchmen of Shahabuddin and was believed to have been murdered though his body was not recovered.
Meanwhile, when contacted Haq, Minister of State for Welfare in the Rabri Devi Ministry, dismissed the charge against him as "baseless".
"Munna Chaudhary is a notorious criminal and I believe he is still alive and active in the underworld," he told and added that the name of Shahabuddin had been included in the case several months after it was registered on January 13, 2001.
